“Art isn’t always about speaking louder, sometimes it’s about listening more deeply.”

About

Abi Afandi

Painter, Sculptor, and Illustrator.

I’m Abi Afandi, an independent visual artist based in Indonesia. My work is rooted in intuition, emotion, and the tension between control and chaos. I create visual art that emerges from spontaneity. It doesn’t always follow rules, but it always seeks truth.

My process is instinctive. I rarely start with a finished idea; I begin with feeling. I let shapes, lines, and textures evolve freely, responding to the moment. What emerges is often raw, imperfect, and emotionally charged.

I draw inspiration from nature and the silent intensity of life around me. From the stillness of a forest to the unnoticed quiet in human interactions, I believe there’s beauty in what often goes unseen.

This portfolio is more than a showcase. It’s an invitation into my way of seeing, where art isn’t polished but personal, not rigid but real.

Statement of Work

My creative process is rooted in intuition. I rarely begin with a fixed outcome in mind. Instead, I let emotion guide my hands and allow the work to evolve organically. Each piece is a conversation between chaos and control, between instinct and intention.

I work primarily with traditional media such as acrylic, oil, ink, and mixed media, exploring textures, movement, and raw energy. I embrace imperfections as part of the story, often letting accidents become integral parts of the composition.

Themes of nature, isolation, emotional tension, and unspoken moments frequently appear in my work. I am drawn to the quiet intensity of life around me, including the stillness between events, the beauty in decay, and the subtle power of silence.

For me, art is not about solving or explaining, but about revealing. Through every piece, I seek to make the invisible visible, to give form to feelings that resist words.
